짧은 독서이지만, 그래도 경영학 쪽으로 가장 좋아하는 작가, 또는 존경하는 작가를 꼽으라면, 나는 주저없이 짐 콜린스Jim Collins를 선택한다. 내가 중소기업에 몸담고 있기 때문인지는 모르겠다. 그는 잭 웰치와 같은 거성 CEO급 인사의 책에서는 느낄 수 없었던 사람냄새나는 존경하고 싶은 CEO에 대한 것들을 각종 수사어구가 아닌 실질적인 인터뷰와 데이터를 통해서 통계적으로 보여준다. 그래서 한장한장 책을 읽을 때마다, 아 이래야 겠다하는.. 여러가지 생각들이 나를 다잡아 주곤 한다.

오늘은 그의 책이 또 뭐가 없나 둘러보다가 우연히 JimCollins.com이라는 사이트를 운영하고 있다는 사실을 알았다. 진작에 찾아봤었어도 찾아봤을텐데 이제서야 찾아보게 된 것도 참 웃긴 일인다. MichaelCrichton.com은 그 예전부터 들러보던 사이트인데.. 아무튼, 이 사이트 그의 책들처럼 디자인도 참 마음에 들고, 여러가지 읽어보고 들어볼 거리들이 참 많다. 연구소도 있고, 강의실도 있고. 다른 책들을 찾아보기 전에 이 사이트 먼저 열심히 마스터해야겠다. 참 네트의 바다는 넓다니까..

참고로, 공식적인 그의 저서는 현재 4권으로 되어 있다. 다음 책이 무엇일지 참 궁금한데.

참 우습게도, 다른 수많은 책들은 다 원서로 샀으면서 짐콜린스의 책은 죄다 번역판으로 샀으니, 이것 참 아이러니가 아닐 수 없다. 사실 콜린스의 책들은 다 비쌌기 때문에.. 할 수 없었다. 번역판들도 나름 퀄리티가 좋았기 때문에 만족스러웠었다.

아 이중에서 세번째에 "Managing the small to Mid-Sized Company"는 한 번도 본 적이 없고 번역도 안된 것 같은데 이 녀석을 구할 방법을 찾아봐야 되겠다. (교재 형태인 것 같은데)
